How to make samosa at Home?

Samosa is a popular fried or baked pastry from the Indian subcontinent filled with spiced potatoes, peas, onions, or meat. It is often served as a snack or appetizer and can be accompanied by chutneys or sauces.

Ingredients:

2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
1/2 cup peas
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1 tsp grated ginger
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp red chili powder
2 tbsp oil
Salt to taste

Recipe:

Preparing the dough: In a bowl, mix together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 cup vegetable oil. Slowly add water and knead the dough until it becomes smooth and firm. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.

Making the filling: Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add 1 chopped onion and sauté until soft. Also check and make chicken cheese pasta. Add 1 teaspoon ginger paste, 1 teaspoon garlic paste, 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder and 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder. Sauté for another minute. Add 2 chopped potatoes and cook until they are soft, about 10–12 minutes. Add 1/2 cup peas and cook for 2 minutes. Add salt to taste and mix well. Let the filling cool.

Making the samosas: Roll out the dough into thin circles. Cut each circle in half. Take one half and shape it into a cone. Fill the cone with about 2 tablespoons of the filling. Seal the top of the cone with water. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.

Frying the samosas: Heat oil in a deep-frying pan. Once the oil is hot, add the samosas and fry until they are golden brown. Remove them from the oil and place them on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Serve hot with mint chutney or tamarind chutney.
